In a time-honored annual tradition, the White House hosts its annual Easter Egg Roll on the South Lawn and Ellipse of the White House as part of a larger celebration of Spring.
What was this year’s theme?
This year, the theme of the Easter Egg Roll was a continuation of Dr. Jill Biden’s “EGGucation” theme focused on educational activities that were fit for children of all ages and was broken into nine unique sessions. The first events were kicked off at 7:00 am and the event concluded twelve hours later at exactly 7:00 pm. The full events of the day included:
- Egg Roll – A tradition since 1878, kids use wood spoons to roll and race colored eggs the length of the South Lawn.
- Egg Hunt – Kids run across the area looking for hidden eggs filled with special prizes.
- School House – Fun education activities and demonstrations.
- School House Stage – More acts and performances centered around children’s education.
- Snack Time – seasonal snacks and an opportunity to say hi to the Easter bunny in person!
- Farm Field Trip – Informative talks held by real American farmers, sharing their insights about farm life.
- Reading Nook – A designated area for kids seeking a special story time from special guest authors where kids can meet the characters from their favorite stories in real life.
- Picture Day – An opportunity for a formal photo with an iconic background of the White House draped in its iconic Spring colors.
- Physical ‘EGGucation’ (PE) Zone – Meant for kids of all ages, this spot is where kids get to run, jump, hop, skip, or whatever else they want to do in a fun, safe environment.
- Band Hall – A designated area for live music being put on by bands from all across the country, ranging from big names to small-town school bands!
