Bluebird Sky Yoga has started live-streaming its lunchtime classes for those staying at home.

Whether you’re a yogi who lives for their daily yoga classes but now you’ve got to stay home, you’ve been looking to join a yoga studio but now probably won’t get to for a while, or you’re simply looking for a way to stay sane and relaxed through the stressful times we’re living, we’ve got the answer for you. Well, actually Bluebird Sky Yoga has it. In view of the coronavirus crisis, this Brookland yoga studio closed its doors on Friday but it’s giving live-streaming a go and it’ll be broadcasting all it’s lunchtime classes for free this week.

Bluebird Sky streamed its first class on Monday, Mar 16, at 12:30 pm via Facebook live and will continue to do so throughout this week. The yoga studio is offering the classes for free with the option to donate a small fee to the studio via Venmo for those who have the means to do so. Missed  Monday’s class? You can still watch it here.

If you don’t have the necessary equipment at home, don’t fret, Bluebird’s got some creative ideas for you to make your own yoga equipment at home:

  • Blocks: stack of books, sturdy box, empty crate

  • Bolsters: pillows, blankets/sheets stuffed inside of a pillowcase, couch cushion

  • Blankets: Towels, blankets

  • Strap: scarf, robe tie, belt

  • Eye pillow: a small bag of rice (option to add lavender), a small bag of dried beans Make sure eye pillows are filled with light materials to avoid any temporary or long-term damage to the retina.

In addition to streaming their midday lessons via Facebook, the studio has also moved up the start date for its outdoor Farmer’s Market classes up to Mar 21. These will be held at Monroe Street Farmers Market at 8:30 am, requiring previous registration and a $10 fee.

While they haven’t stated whether the free yoga lessons will continue next week, Bluebird Sky Yoga will be providing updates on their social media pages, so make sure to follow them on Facebook and Instagram to keep up with the latest developments!
