Well, according to a recent study conducted by WalletHub, which compared the nation’s 100 biggest cities based on 26 key indicators, the District ranked among the top 10 best places in America to celebrate the holiday!
The study featured three core dimensions, which helped develop each city’s unique score of 100; those dimensions were: Entertainment & Food, Costs, and Safety & Accessibility.
The District’s scores were as follows:
- Overall rank – #8 in the nation
- Total Score – 63.81
- Entertainment & Food Rank – #11 in the nation
- Costs Rank – #88 in the nation
- Safety & Accessibility Rank – #32 in the nation
The nation’s capital earned its high overall rank with two particularly high scores in two of the key indicators that we had mentioned earlier, those were:
- Availability of Affordable Fine Dining – #1 in the nation
- Walkability – #6 in the nation

Between those three dimensions, there were a total of 26 key indicators that were each given a weighted score that would ultimately add up to the city’s overall score out of a potential 100 points.
