We’ll say it… The pizza scene in Washington, D.C. is underrated.
There are many great pizza places to choose from that offer a lot of variety in style, approach, and technique, but according to a recent ranking of the top-10 spots to grab a slice in the nation, there is one pizza place in the nation’s capital that stands above the rest.
That spot is none other than D.C.’s very own Slice & Pie!
Where does Slice & Pie rank among the best pizza places in the nation?
According to the ranking, Slice & Pie managed to earn the #7 spot for best pizza in the United States!
The high ranking, which beats out many iconic pizza joints from the likes of NYC and Chicago, was earned as a result of Italian-born pizzamaker Giolio Adriani’s thoughtful and creative use of high-quality ingredients to create stunning pies!
Interestingly, among the top 10, Slice & Pie was one of the few spots on the list that offered more than one variety of pizza, with both Detroit-style and New York-style on the menu.

What is the best pizza at Slice & Pie?
The ranking did not specify one singular pizza as the end-all, be-all best slice in the shop; instead, they highlighted a few options that stood out on the menu.
Those standout slices were:
- The Mushroom & Truffle (New York Style) – Parmesan cream, mozzarella, mushrooms, garlic, truffle oil, and parsley.
- The Hawaiian (New York Style) – California tomato sauce base, mozzarella, roasted pineapple, jalapeno, and bacon.
- Classic Detroit Style (Pepperoni) – Tomato sauce, mozzarella, provolone, hot honey, “cup and char” pepperoni.
