Burnside Farms, in Nokesville, Virginia, is famous for its Spring Flower Festival which features roughly a million beautifully bloomed tulips and daffodils – but in our opinion, their Summer Flower Festival might be even prettier!
Everything to know about Burnside Farms’ Summer Flower Festival
Burnside Farms’ Summer Flower Festival, affectionately known as “The Summer of Sunflowers”, consists of 70+ acres of Sunflowers featuring over 30 varieties of ‘cutting’ sunflowers you can even cut and take home!
While the exact opening dates of the “The Summer of Sunflowers” festival have not yet been confirmed by Burnside Farms, they have stated it will begin in late July and run for roughly 4-5 weeks!
In addition to the U-Cut Sunflowers ($1.50 per stem), you can browse, they also will have several beautiful sunflower mazes perfect for a family-friendly fun adventure – this year, they already have plans to have 3 unique mazes, each of which should bloom on different dates.
How much do tickets cost?
Unfortunately, tickets are not currently being listed for sale on the Burnside Farms’ website, so the exact prices for weekday and weekend tickets have not yet been announced.
However, if you use Burnside Farms’ Spring Flower Festival as a reference – day-of tickets are $25 per person on weekdays and $27 per person on weekend days, there are also early bird and sunset time tickets, which are $29 on weekdays and $31 on weekend days.
How to plan a day at Burnside Farms this Summer
During the Summer, their ‘sunflower sunsets’ are a particularly popular activity and frequently sell out, running from 4 pm to dusk daily.
So, if you have the opportunity to go, you are not going to want to miss it!
Once you’re at the farm you can have a nice picnic at their partially-shaded picnic area and play in a variety of nice outdoor activities like cornhole.
Naturally, you’ll want to bring everything you need for an outdoor afternoon during the Summer:
- Sunscreen
- Lots of drinking water
- A hat or an umbrella for shade.
- Comfortable ‘farm friendly’ hiking shoes you don’t mind getting a bit dirty.
- Snacks, plates, cups… Anything you might need for a picnic
