Luke Nichols, or more commonly known simply as “Luke of the Outdoor Boys YouTube channel“, is well known online for the simple and wholesome outdoor adventures that he would go on, often bringing his young children and wife along to teach his audience about outdoor activities like camping, fishing, and hunting, self-reliance in the wilderness, and taking the time to build on family values.
An Alaskan native, Luke grew up developing a passion for the outdoors, but at the age of 19 traveled to Japan on a mission on behalf of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
After his return, Luke studied at Brigham Young University (BYU), where he met his wife Rebecca.
Shortly after concluding his bachelor’s degree, he and Rebecca moved to Virginia, where he would ultimately earn a law degree from George Mason University.
Not long after earning his law degree around 2009, he opened his own law practice, Nichols & Green, PLLC, based in Fairfax, Virginia!
Around 2013, Luke Nichols established his first YouTube channel, “Catfish & Carp”, and began posting regular fishing content.
In 2015, he created the “Outdoor Boys” channel, which famously incorporated his family into his adventures to create fun and wholesome content.
It took just a few years for the channel to gain traction, reaching 1 million subscribers by 2019, 5 million subscribers by late 2023, and then ultimately exploding by over 10 million additional subscribers by mid-2025!

It’s worth noting that at some points during the pandemic, around 2020, Luke and his family moved from their Fairfax, VA, residence back to Luke’s home state of Alaska, where they still live currently.
Today, Luke Nichols’ main channel has garnered over 17.6 million subscribers, and he has become a cultural icon.
Unfortunately for his fans, Luke announced he plans to retire the channel back in May as a result of its overwhelming popularity and the stress it’s put on his family.
Over the course of the channel’s lifetime, Luke collectively accumulated billions of views over the course of the channel’s lifetime.
