Washingtonians who tune into “Selena + Chef” are in for a treat as a popular D.C. pastry chef is making a guest appearance in the latest episode.
Paola Velez, a D.C. pastry chef and co-founder of the activism bake sale Bakers Against Racism, appears alongside pop star and actor Selena Gomez in one episode of season 4 of her HBO Max series.
Velez—who says Velez, who grew up in the Bronx and has Dominican Republic roots—uses her guest spot to take Gomez through the steps of creating a chocolate sandwich cookie icebox cake and beef empanadas.
And like in every episode, the celebrity chef gets to choose a nonprofit or charity organization close to them that Gomez then makes a donation to. Velez chooses Ayuda, an organization that provides support to low-income immigrants in the DMV area.
You can stream Velez’s episode of “Selena + Chef” now on HBO Max.
