Washington, D.C., will commemorate the United States’ 250th anniversary with EAT250: America at the Table, a citywide food and culture initiative scheduled for this summer!
Developed by the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington (RAMW), TAA|PR, and the local executive office, the program will examine the nation’s history and cultural convergence through culinary traditions.
More than 100 restaurants throughout the Washington metropolitan region will offer special menus and dining experiences. The initiative will also integrate programming at local embassies, museums, libraries, and neighborhood venues.
Citywide Activations and Menus
The event meant to shine a light on America’s culinary culture is slated to take place on June 14–28, 2026.
Organizers will host the primary anchor events within the Union Market District.
Throughout the capital, the schedule will feature public discussions and collaboration dinners pairing chefs with cultural voices.

These events will address the definition of American food by tracing the evolution of cross-cultural dishes, such as Japanese pasta, Ethiopian pizza, and Chinese soul food originating in the segregated South.
Mayor Muriel Bowser noted that the capital’s culinary landscape—ranging from Michelin-starred establishments to neighborhood eateries—reflects a global convergence, adding that the administration is ready to welcome visitors “to experience all our city has to offer.”
RAMW President and CEO Shawn Townsend stated that the region’s culinary diversity provides an ideal setting to convey the story of the country’s dining experience.
Organizers will announce additional participating chefs, restaurant partners, and specific event schedules in the coming months. Program updates will be available at EAT250.com.
