Two of the world’s top international soccer teams are coming to the Washington, D.C. area this spring to play an exhibition match ahead of the official start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup tournament this summer!
Those teams, France and Colombia, will be playing at Northwest Stadium in March, giving Washingtonians a chance to view a world-class international soccer match in-person, since the DMV area was not selected to host any matches during the World Cup tournament.
Leading up to the match, France’s international squad is ranked the #3 team by FIFA’s rankings, and Colombia is ranked #13.
The matchup is considered part of the “Road to 26” series being conducted by FIFA, which features other similar ‘friendly’ games being held in Florida and Massachusetts.

When are France and Colombia playing?
The exhibition match between France and Colombia is set to take place at Northwest Stadium on Sunday, March 29th, at 3:00 pm.
The excellent timing makes it a perfect weekend plan, giving anyone interested in attending the opportunity to do.
How much do seats cost?
While a lot of the seats for this match have already sold out, there are still some fantastic seats available throughout the stadium, with prices ranging from around $110, perfect for casual fans, up to around $800 for premium spots, ideal spots if you’re a passionate fan of either France or Colombia.
You can even score a seat near the teams’ benches if you’re interested for as little as $255!
Is this game important for the World Cup?
No, this match will have no impact on either team’s standings in the 2026 FIFA World Cup; however, the match is considered a ‘tune-up’ given its close date to the start of the tournament, which means that the confidence of a win here could mean a lot heading into this summer!
Additionally, the last time these two teams played was in a similar exhibition match in 2018; in that match, the Colombian team was able to score three unanswered goals in a major comeback win, claiming a 3-2 victory over France.
