The demand for romance novels is on the rise, and it’s showing no signs of slowing down. After seeing how cities like New York and Los Angeles had brought romance bookstore concepts to life, owner Jamie Fortin saw an opportunity here in the D.C. area.
Designed to “bring joy and light to the DMV,” Friends to Lovers is officially opening in Old Town Alexandria on Thursday, November 14th. The space will open from 10 am to 2 pm and reopen for its grand opening at 5 pm.
The cozy neighborhood spot is woman-owned and queer-owned and aspires to be an inclusive community space. Over the next few days, several exciting activations will take place, such as a wine tasting on Friday, November 15, and an astrology hour on Saturday, November 16th.
Friends to Lovers is also hosting its first giveaway, which runs through Saturday, November 16th. Prizes include a special-edition Jane Austen book, a book claw clip, a gift session certificate from a professional organizer, and more!
