For D.C.-area pizza fans, a long-awaited opening is finally becoming official.
While customers have already begun visiting Giordano’s new downtown Washington location during its soft opening period, the legendary Chicago pizza chain will host its official grand opening celebration on June 9th at its very first location in the District.
According to Giordano’s, the event will mark the formal debut of its flagship DMV location and the launch of a special limited-time pizza created to honor America’s 250th anniversary.
The opening brings one of Chicago’s most recognizable pizza brands to the heart of the nation’s capital, giving locals and visitors a chance to experience the chain’s famous stuffed deep-dish & tavern-style pizza, just a few steps from the White House.
For pizza lovers who have been waiting for Giordano’s arrival in the District, the celebration is shaping up to be one of the city’s most anticipated restaurant openings of the summer.
When and where is the new Giordano’s location opening in D.C.?
Giordano’s official grand opening celebration will take place on June 9, 2026, at its new restaurant located at 600 14th Street NW in downtown Washington, D.C., near Lafayette Square and the White House.
The new restaurant spans approximately 7,400 square feet and features seating for more than 180 guests, including a large dining room, bar area, seasonal patio, and a private event space known as The Lincoln Room.
Although the restaurant has already begun welcoming customers during a soft-opening phase, June 9 will serve as the official celebration of Giordano’s arrival in the District.
As part of the festivities, the chain will debut its limited-time “250 Pizza,” a specialty pie featuring pepperoni and sausage with a commemorative Parmesan cheese design inspired by America’s 250th anniversary.
A portion of proceeds from the pizza will benefit Honor Flight, a nonprofit organization dedicated to honoring U.S. veterans.

What makes Giordano’s so iconic?
Founded in Chicago in 1974, Giordano’s has spent more than five decades building a reputation as one of the most recognizable names in Chicago-style pizza.
The brand traces its roots to an Italian family recipe that inspired its signature stuffed deep-dish pizza.
Unlike traditional pizzas, Giordano’s famous stuffed pizza features layers of mozzarella cheese and toppings sealed beneath a second layer of dough before being topped with tomato sauce.
The result is a hearty, cheese-filled pie that has become synonymous with Chicago pizza culture.
Today, the company operates nearly 60 locations across multiple states and has become a destination for visitors seeking an authentic Chicago-style pizza experience.
The Washington location represents a major milestone for the brand, serving as its first restaurant in the DMV region and potentially the first of several locations that could expand throughout the area in the years ahead.
