A heatwave has or is set to descend onto the East Coast, marking extreme heat and humidity for many cities, including New York, D.C., and Philly.
Friday, June 20th, is set to be slightly cooler, but starting Saturday, which is also the first day of summer, funnily enough, a heat dome will set over D.C.
This will mark an end to an extremely wet couple of weeks, but as Saturday and Sunday progress, the temperature will hover between low and mid 90s with humidity slowly settling in, making the heat feel like its in the triple digits. It’s supposed to feel closer to 100 with all the humidity, so make sure to hydrate.
The heat will continue through the next 7 days, with temperatures hovering in the mid 90s throughout the week, with the possibility of pop-up thunderstorms on Thursday.
Remember these tips to stay cool in a heatwave:
- Keep hydrated,
- Wear loose-fitting clothes,
- Wear natural fabrics like cotton and linen,
- Don’t over-consume alcohol,
- Stay in the shade.
Also, remember to check on those who might be more susceptible to heat such as the elderly, children, and outdoor workers.
