John Cena has been the face of professional wrestling for decades. Since his debut in 2002, Cena has gone on to win 17 world championships, five United States Championships, four Tag Team Championships, and two Royal Rumbles!
Despite his incredible legacy of success in the sport, his performance in the ring was just part of what made him such a well-respected and admired individual; aside from being an incredibly charismatic competitor in the ring, he was also an incredibly generous and thoughtful philanthropist, having fulfilled over 650 Make-A-Wish requests – more than any other celebrity in history.
Why is John Cena’s final match in Washington, D.C.?
If you were curious why Cena’s final fight was being held in the District at Capital One Arena, you definitely are not alone.
The decision by the WWE for it to be held in D.C. shocked longtime Cena fans, many of whom expected his swan song performance to be held in Boston, since Cena is a Massachusetts native.
The reason, as one might have guessed, is money.
Apparently, according to reports, Washington, D.C. officials allegedly outbid Boston with a number north of $7 million!
While that total has not been confirmed, other reports also indicate that Donald Trump’s connections with both the WWE and the TKO Group could have played a major role in Washington, D.C. getting to be able to host Cena’s final match.

When is John Cena’s final wrestling match at Capital One Arena?
The lead-up to Cena’s final match will include a full week of buildup before the match, which will take place on December 13th of this year, as well as a weekend-long WWE ‘takeover’ of the District.
However, the exact time of the event and the schedule for events that are going to be planned for the weekend ‘takeover’ have not yet been released.
What we do know is that John Cena’s final show in Boston will take place on November 10th, and his final show at Madison Square Garden will be on November 17th.

How to get tickets to John Cena’s final match
