A touring Cirque Du Soleil production is making its way to the greater D.C. area, celebrating the richness of Mexican culture through vibrant colors, fantastical sets, and unforgettable artistry. Described as a “surreal love letter to Mexico,” LUZIA draws the audience into a dreamlike setting inspired by the country’s culture, nature, and mythology.
LUZIA will open inside Under the Big Top in Tysons, VA on September 6. From Mexican speed juggling to an act featuring a massive monarch butterfly, the dazzling production captures the many places, faces, and sounds of Mexico.
LUZIA invites you to enter a waking dream of Mexico
Light and rain are both key components of the production, inspiring the fusion of “luz” and “lluvia” to cleverly create the name “LUZIA.” In one particularly astounding act, water will fall from the ceiling to artfully mimic rain as aerial rope and hoop acrobats captivate the audience.
Throughout the evening, the stage will transform into a vivid tapestry of Mexico through striking set design, seamlessly transitioning from a smoke-filled dance hall to an arid desert or 1920s movie set. While nothing quite compares to seeing LUZIA live, you can get a sneak peek at what to expect here:
Packed with magical Mexican-inspired twists, the 125-minute production is anything but ordinary. LUZIA is a family-friendly show, and tickets begin at $70 for adults. Tickets for children ages two to twelve start at $60.
The whimsical world of Cirque Du Soleil’s LUZIA awaits! The show will be open at Under the Big Top in Tysons, VA on select days from Saturday, September 6 through Sunday, October 19.
