Yet another museum is opening its doors to the public! Well, kind of…The National Building Museum will be opening the doors to its popular museum shop starting on Wednesday, November 19 until Saturday, December 19.
While the museum’s exhibitions and the Great Hall remain off-limits we’re still thrilled we get to wander through its awesome shop just in time for the holidays! Here you’ll find all kinds of awesome building-related goodies, all the way from architecture books to one-of-a-kind toys, design materials and more.
Like many other museums, the National Building Museum has put a series of new safety measures in place due to COVID-19. These include the obligatory use of facemasks for visitors 6 or older, social-distancing signage to encourage visitors to maintain the 6-foot safety distance, frequent and enhanced cleaning and hand-sanitizing stations, which will be available throughout the building.
The museum is also asking those visitors who feel sick or unwell to please stay at home.
The National Building Museum is also working at reduced capacity and hours and will be opening only three days a week and is also available online. The shop will be open to the public Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. through 3 p.m. and visitors will have to enter through the 5th Street NW or G Street NW entrances. The F Street NW entrance is closed until further notice.
