The third annual ‘National Mall of Pickleball‘ event is upon us!
Taking place this weekend, from Friday, September 19th to Sunday, September 21st, there will be pickleball courts set up for Washingtonians to try their hand at the fastest-growing sport in America.
Where is the ‘National Mall of Pickleball’ event happening?
Aside from the obvious answer being “on the National Mall”, to be more specific, there will be eleven pickleball courts set up on the National Mall by 12th Street, adjacent to the Smithsonian Metro station.
The event is being hosted by the Trust for the National Mall and the Humana Foundation to promote a healthy lifestyle, as well as the inclusive and accessible nature of pickleball!

How can you reserve a pickleball court?
While the online reservations system for the pickleball courts opened on September 10th, you can still register for a spot on a waitlist so that you can be notified if a cancellation takes place.
Can you play without a reservation?
Yes!
There will be select courts available specifically for walk-on players who want to try their hand at pickleball!
Once you arrive at the event location on the National Mall, head towards the registration table, and a ‘National Mall of Pickleball’ representative will be happy to add your name to the walk-on rotation.

Other festivities and fanfare at the ‘National Mall of Pickleball’ event
To complement the eleven temporary pickleball courts being set up on the National Mall, there will be a clinic taught by the D.C. Pickleball Team to teach pickleball basics.
There will also be just about everything you need to play supplied for you; the only things you’ll need to bring are an ID for registration, some activewear, and a pair of sneakers.
While concessions will not be available at the event, several food trucks are typically parked along the National Mall near the event area, all of which will be happy to provide you with a satisfying meal or refreshing beverage.
