It’s the end of another era in Georgetown: After first opening its doors back in 2002, Pizzeria Paradiso is officially closing its M Street location this July.
The Georgetown spot has been around since practically the dawn of the 21st century, serving up wood-fired Neapolitan-style pizza to generations of students, visitors, and neighborhood locals. Sadly, Pizzeria Paradiso’s time in Georgetown is soon coming to a close.
The silver lining: Free slices 🍕
Paradiso is offering a small parting gift to thank the local community. From 12 pm to 3 pm on July 26, they’ll be giving out free slices and salads while supplies last. If you want in, get there early. No tickets or reservations are required, but, naturally, free food tends to draw a crowd.
Founder and Owner Ruth Gresser and Managing Partner Carlos Delgado Gonzalez will also offer a complimentary farewell toast for all guests at 1 pm.
Wait, what about the other Pizzeria Paradiso locations?
If you’re a fan of Pizzeria Paradiso’s Neapolitan-style pizza, rest assured that the Dupont Circle, Hyattsville, Spring Valley, and Pronto locations are sticking around. In fact, the business shared the following statement in a recent announcement:
“The closing is a farewell story. It’s also a celebration story: the celebration of a brand that continues to grow, with new Virginia locations and a future that honors everything Georgetown built.”
Whether you have history with the place, or you’re just in the area, the July 26 event is a great opportunity to grab a free slice and say goodbye to a Georgetown fixture that lasted nearly a quarter of a century.
