Red Bull’s iconic ‘Spin Off’ race is coming to the District this summer for an iconic afternoon of full of fun-spirited competition.
This will be one of the first-ever Red Bull Spin Off events to be hosted in the US.
After the event first started in the Netherlands back in 2023, it’s since gone consistently viral every time it’s been hosted, which means that Red Bull has finally decided to bring the event to the US this summer, where it will kick off its tour with an event in D.C.!
What is the Red Bull Spin Off?
The event, which has teams design their own tandem bike with some famously funny and wacky designs, so that they can compete to race across a track floating on water.
The goal, naturally, is to cross the course as quickly as possible (while on your bike), but the event’s scoring also places a heavy emphasis on showmanship during the race and the creativity of your cart’s design.
How can you apply to be a part of Red Bull Spin Off DC?
The registration period to apply for a spot in the event is currently open and will close on May 3rd.
Only 40 teams will be selected to participate in the event, so you’ll want to make sure your application stands out!
The registration can be found easily on the event’s official site, but to summarize the requirements, you’ll need the following:
- Team Name
- Team Details
- A full list of team members (2 riders and up to 4 ‘pit crew’ members to help with the initial push off)
- A brief background of the inspiration behind your team and its craft tandem bike.
- Upload A Craft Sketch
- Upload a fleshed-out sketch of your tandem bike craft plan; the more detail included, the better!
When and where is the Red Bull Spin Off happening in DC?
The actual event will take place this summer, on June 27th!
The race will be hosted at The Wharf and is slated to kick off at 10 am with an award ceremony following the final ride, which is expected to take place at around 3 pm.
