
Major road closures are coming to the District that will result in some of Washington, D.C.’s key streets being closed for a rather significant portion of the weekend!

The Rock’n’Roll run series is a charity event raising funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
The series has two key events: a half marathon and a 5K, both of which take place on Saturday from the morning through the afternoon.

What to know about the race(s) in D.C. this weekend
The running series this weekend will have two events or races on Saturday.
The first race will be the 5K, which starts promptly at 7:45 am near the National Mall along Pennsylvania Ave NW and ends in the same location after a 5K loop.
The second race is a half-marathon starting at 8 am near the Smithsonian National Museum of American History; the finish line will be the same as the 5K course start/finish location near the National Mall along Pennsylvania Ave NW.
Race routes to avoid this weekend in Washington, D.C.

As seen above, the race routes on Saturday morning encompass almost all of central D.C., which means that the ensuing road closures will make getting into or out of the city extremely difficult from Friday night through Saturday evening.
