What is ‘Tulip Day Washington’ going to be?
The ‘Tulip Day’ event originates from San Francisco, where it is still held annually to this day!
During the event, thousands of residents and visitors come together to experience and appreciate the first tulips of spring by picking a free 10-flower bouquet by hand.
For ‘Tulip Day Washington’, the event will feature 150,000 American-grown Dutch tulips on the National Mall with a special design that incorporates the number 250, to commemorate America’s 250 years of independence.
The event is funded by the Royal Anthos, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Washington, D.C., and partners across the floral sector, with support from the European Union.
