The first-ever route for United Airlines to fly direct from D.C. to Alaska will include a daily non-stop flight between Dulles (IAD) and Anchorage, Alaska (ANC), however, the flight will be seasonal, which means that it is not permanent! While the deals may not be as cheap as PLAY Airline’s $150 flight deals to Europe from Dulles, it is still an exciting development that Washingtonians are going to want to capitalize on!
Everything you need to know about United Airline’s new direct flight from Washington, D.C. to Alaska
As we mentioned, this is United Airline’s first-ever non-stop route to Alaska from the D.C. area, flying out of Dulles International Airport (IAD) towards Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC) starting on May 23rd, 2024. The seasonal route will fly non-stop once a day and will continue throughout the summer with an expected final flight date on September 2nd, otherwise known as Labor Day Weekend, the unofficial end of the Summer travel season.
The flight will depart daily from D.C. at around 5:45 pm and arrive in Anchorage, Alaska at roughly 9:30 pm, which means that the total flight time will be around 7 hours and 45 minutes!
Is the flight using a Boeing Airplane?
Yes, this flight uses the Boeing 737 MAX-8, which is not the model recently under scrutiny for safety concerns (this was the MAX-9). Fortunately, the 737 MAX-8 model is still considered by both United Airlines and the FAA as completely safe, so there is no overt cause for concern regarding the plane’s safety. Aside from being sufficiently safe, this plan model also possesses fully functioning Wi-Fi, power outlets, USB ports, and a personal seatback screen for entertainment.
