The U.S. Botanic Garden is among the many incredible free things to do in Washington, D.C.. From a towering tropical forest to a vibrant orchid house, the lush destination is home to more than 44,000 plants. However, squeezing in a weekday visit can be difficult when working full-time.
Luckily, the botanical garden has extended its summer hours. Additionally, the Conservatory Garden Court will host live music throughout June, July, and August – and the next one is right around the corner!
On the third Thursday of each month, June 19, July 17, August 21, and September 18, 2025, the Garden will stay open until 8 p.m. for visitors to enjoy the golden hour amidst the USBG plant collection from around the world, plus live music from a variety of guests, including:
- Pine Apple
- Tornado Rose, and
- Trap Cellist
These are all local artists who are playing in a variety of different styles and genres. Additionally, local restaurateur Vintage Views will be selling lemonade, botanical non-alcoholic mocktails, and snacks. Plus, Here’s the Scoop will have gourmet ice cream and non-dairy sorbet.

The gift shop, run by beloved local plant shop ReWild, will also remain open throughout the evening. From potted plants to wall art, so many fun finds await! Entry to these events is free and tickets are not required.
