You already know hand-churned ice cream and gelato, but have you ever tried Greek Ice Cream? If not, you can try it at Yala Greek Ice Cream, owned by Chrys Kefalas who has taken inspiration from his grandfather, George Minadakis or Papou, which is Greek for grandpa. They’ve been perfecting their recipe in Greece and will be bringing it to America for the first time. Here’s what you can expect.

Their ice cream is made with premium ingredients, sometimes imported from Greece, that play on classic Greek flavors and ingredients known to the country’s culture, like pistachio, orange, and cherries.
Try their Pistachio Odyssey that’s made with imported Mediterranean pistachios, Black Cherry Opa!, made with black cherries, vanilla ice cream and imported chocolate, and their classic Papou’s Promise, a recipe that calls back to Papou’s original recipe that started the journey, made with vanilla from Tonga which is near Albania and Greece. If you’re feeling extra adventurous, try their specialty flavors like their Kataifi made with filo, honey, and walnut or something fresh, like their Greek Blue Summer with Papou’s Promise as the base and blueberries and fresh lemon curd.

The ice cream parlor of Papou’s and Chrys’ dreams will be opening on National Ice Cream Day on Sunday, July 20th.
