While there are some open spots on Team USA for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, a great number of athletes have already qualified in their respective sports to compete in the Paris Olympics – including several athletes who can call the DMV area their home!
While there are almost certainly more athletes from Team USA that are representing the DMV area this Summer than we have listed below, we’ve ranked here 15 local athletes from the DMV area that you can cheer on during the upcoming Paris Olympics!
1. Katie Ledecky – Swimming
Katie Ledecky needs no introduction – she holds multiple women’s swimming records, has won the most medals of any women’s swimmer in history, and is considered by many to be the face of Team USA in this upcoming Olympics.
This will be Katie’s fourth Olympics, having competed in 2012, 2016, and 2020, compiling a total of 7 Gold medals and 3 Silver medals.
Hometown: Bethesda, MD
2. Kevin Durant – Men’s Basketball
Kevin Durant is potentially the most recognizable athlete to ever come out of the D.C. area – this will be his fourth time representing Team USA in the Olympics and he has claimed a gold medal in each of the three past Olympic games he has participated in.
Durant, who is also the all-time leading scorer for Team USA, happens to have some of the most Olympic experience on this Olympic’s star-studded Team USA roster.
Being called the “Redeem Team 2.0”, the star-studded Team USA men’s basketball team is playing to re-establish the team’s legacy of success after failing to claim a medal in the 2023 FIBA World Cup.

3. Taylor Knibb – Triathlon & Road Cycling
This will be D.C. native Taylor Knibb’s second-ever Olympic games – she competed in the 2020 Tokyo Games on Team USA’s Triathlon Team where she claimed a silver medal in the Mixed Team Relay and 16th in the women’s Olympic Distance race!
This year, for the Paris Games, Taylor qualified to compete in the Triathlon and the Road Cycling.

4. Trevon Jenifer – Wheelchair Basketball
The 2024 Paris Summer Games will be Trevon Jenifer’s 4th Paralympics – where he competed with the Team USA Wheelchair basketball team in 2012, 2016, and 2020.
In his past three Summer Games, Trevon has helped Team USA claim a medal, two Golds (2016 & 2020) and one Bronze (2012).
Trevon grew up around an hour outside of D.C. and has been public about his love for D.C. Sports, citing the Wizards and Commanders as his favorite sports teams.

5. Torri Huske – Swimming
An Arlington, Virginia native, Torri Huske has already qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics for her second-ever Olympic games.
In 2020, at the Tokyo Games, Torri claimed a silver medal in the women’s 4 x 100m medley relay, fourth place in the women’s 100m butterfly, and fifth place in the mixed 4 x 100m medley relay!

6. Noah Lyles – Track & Field
Noah Lyles is an Alexandria native who has been ranked first in the world in the 100-meter and 200-meter since 2023 – he holds a world record for the most times an athlete has broken the 20-second mark in the 2oo-meter event, with a total of 38 separate sub-20 second times.
This will be Noah’s second ever Olympics – in 2020 he claimed a bronze medal in the 200m event in a highly competitive final.
He is entering the 2024 Paris Games with high expectations as a result of his recent success – he will be competing in the 100-meter, 200-meter, and 4 x 100-meter events.

7. Daniel Romanshuk – Para Track & Field
The 2024 Paris Games will be Daniel Romanshuk’s third time representing Team USA in the Paralympics – the soon-to-be three-time Paralympian has accumulated two medals, both of which he earned in the Tokyo 2020 Games: a gold in the 400m event and bronze in the marathon event.
Daniel was amongst the very first Team USA athletes to qualify for the Paris 2024 Games after he claimed the silver medal at the 2023 New York City Marathon.

8. Tatyana McFadden – Para Track & Field
This will be Tatyana McFadden’s seventh Paralympic Games, having qualified for her first Paralympic Games in 2004 at only 15 years old she became the youngest athlete on the U.S. Paralympic Track & Field Team, but she also competes in the Winter Games on the Nordic Skiing team.
Over the course of her illustrious Paralympic career, Tatyana has claimed 20 medals – eight golds, eight silvers, and four bronzes.
Tatyana competes in a wide range of Para Track and Field events including the 4 x 100-meter relay as well as the 400-meter, 800-meter, 1,500-meter, 5,000-meter, and the marathon.

9. Cristian Tabash – Rowing
The 25-year-old Alexandria native Cristian Tabash will be representing Team USA in Rowing for the first time this Summer at the Paris 2024 Games.
He, alongside the remainder of the Team USA Rowing crew, qualified for the Paris 2024 Games by placing first in the Men’s Eight category at the 2024 World Rowing Final Olympic & Paralympic Qualification Regatta back in May of this year.

10. Greg Duncan – Diving
Greg Duncan of Oakton, Virginia is one of the most recent DMB native athletes to punch their ticket to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games – Duncan did so by claiming first place in the U.S. Olympic Diving Trials in the 3-meter synchronized diving while partnering with Olympian Tyler Downs.
This will be Greg Duncan’s first-ever Olympic games, while his diving partner, Tyler Downs, already went to his first Olympic Games back in 2020.

11. Hadley Husisian – Fencing
Hadley Husisian, whose hometown is just 30 minutes outside of D.C., just qualified for her first-ever Olympic Games as a member of the Team USA Fencing Squad.
According to her Team USA profile, she was first introduced to fencing while watching the Nickelodeon show iCarly, and now she’s considered one of the top 10 Fencers in the world according to her 2023 World Championships performance!

12. Jahmal Harvey – Boxing
Jahmal Harvey will be competing in his first-ever Olympic Games this Summer in Paris after qualifying by winning gold at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago.
As a D.C. area native, Jahmal even lists some of his favorite hobbies on his Team USA profile as watching the Washington Wizards.

13. Helen Maroulis – Wrestling
Helen Maroulis is going to be competing in her third Olympic Games in Paris this Summer, in her two previous showings in the Olympic Games she managed to win a Gold in the 2016 Rio Games and a Bronze in the 2020 Tokyo Games.
Just last year in the 2023 World Championships Helen managed to secure a podium position by claiming a bronze medal in the 57 kg weight class, so there are high expectations for her to have success in Paris this Summer.

14. Tatiana Nazlymov – Fencing
At only 19 years old, Tatiana Nazlymov is one of the youngest members of Team USA coming from the DMV area for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
Despite her young age, Tatiana already has high expectations for her first Olympic Games as she has been competing in the Senior Fencing World Championships since 2022 with some success.

15. Aaron Russell – Volleyball
Aaron Russell, a native of Ellicott City, MD, is heading to Paris this Summer for his second-ever Olympic Games as a member of the Team USA Men’s Volleyball squad.
While he did not compete in the 2000 Tokyo Games, however, he was a member of Team USA’s men’s volleyball squad for the 2016 Rio Games where they managed to secure a bronze medal by coming in third.
