Washington, D.C., is getting a major new restaurant this fall, and Brisa is already attracting national attention before opening its doors.
The Buzzard Point restaurant has been included among the 15 most exciting restaurant openings in America for fall 2026 by Robb Report.
Led by Michelin-starred chef Carlos Delgado, Brisa will showcase flavors and culinary traditions from across Latin America in a large waterfront setting near Audi Field.
Brisa is bringing the flavors of Latin America to Buzzard Point
Brisa is the latest project from Delgado, the chef behind D.C.’s acclaimed Causa, and it is being developed as a broad celebration of Latin American cuisine rather than a restaurant focused on a single country.
According to Robb Report, the restaurant will showcase cuisine from all 18 Latin American countries, combining modern techniques with classic flavors. The concept is expected to have room for approximately 300 guests, making it a substantial addition to the growing Buzzard Point dining scene.
Brisa’s own website describes the restaurant as a place where the “rhythm of Latin America” comes alive through bold flavors, vibrant cocktails, soulful music and hospitality, with Delgado leading the culinary program.
The restaurant’s name, Brisa, means “breeze” in Spanish, a fitting choice for a concept planned along the waterfront.
Chef Carlos Delgado is leading the new restaurant
Delgado has already made a name for himself in Washington’s dining scene through Causa and other projects, including Maru San and Amazonia.
At Brisa, his approach will stretch beyond Peruvian cuisine to explore dishes and ingredients from throughout Latin America.
Previous details about the menu have pointed to an extensive seafood program alongside dishes inspired by countries including Peru, Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia, Puerto Rico and El Salvador.
Planned offerings have included different styles of ceviche, Venezuelan and Colombian arepas, seafood-stuffed pupusas, arroz mamposteao and Peruvian-style jerk chicken.
The drinks program is also expected to embrace the restaurant’s pan-Latin identity, with cocktails spanning traditions such as mojitos, margaritas, pisco sours and caipirinhas.
Brisa is part of Buzzard Point’s growing dining scene
Brisa is planned for 2121 1st St. SW in Buzzard Point, an increasingly active area anchored by Audi Field and its waterfront development.
The restaurant is coming from Eaternity Hospitality, the group behind D.C. restaurants including La Vie and Nara-Ya, adding another major dining concept to the Southwest waterfront.
The combination of its waterfront location, large dining room and ambitious culinary scope makes Brisa one of the more notable restaurant projects coming to the District.
And now, with Robb Report including Brisa in its national roundup of the 15 most exciting restaurant openings in America for fall 2026, the upcoming restaurant is drawing attention well beyond Washington.
When will Brisa open?
Brisa’s website currently lists the restaurant as “Coming Soon” and does not provide a specific opening date.
Earlier reports had anticipated a summer 2026 opening, but more recent D.C. restaurant-opening coverage places Brisa among the city’s fall 2026 openings, with The List Are You On It listing an opening in late October.
For Washington diners, that means the wait for Brisa could soon be coming to an end — and the restaurant’s inclusion on a major national list suggests it will be one of the D.C. openings to watch as the fall dining season gets underway.
