What is Amtrak’s USA Rail Pass?
Amtrak’s USA Rail Pass is a bundle ticket option for travelers across the United States that allows them to purchase 10 rides (segments) in coach under one singular price package.
The pass has a 120-day validity from the date of purchase, but there is a minimum 30-day period where the pass must first be utilized.
There are also some exceptions to the USA Rail Pass to keep in mind as a traveler:
- Trips require a connecting train will require two Rail Pass segments (If you have to swap trains to arrive at your destination, it counts as two rides)
- The following stations are not included in the promotion:
- Acela
- Auto Train
- Maple Leaf (Canadian stations only)
- Thruway Bus Series 7000-7999
- USA Rail Pass is available for Sale and Value Fares only
- Travel is restricted to two roundtrips (four one-way trips) between the same two stations (This means that you must vary your destinations and cannot use all available trips on the USA Rail Pass to travel to the same destination).
- Trip changes are permitted, but only before the trip’s scheduled departure time
- If you do make a trip change, the new travel date will need to be within 120 days of the initial booking of the USA Rail Pass and 30 days of the original travel date.
