Following the new year, Baja Tap, located at 2436 18th Street, now sports a “permanently closed” sign on its front door. Boasting two floors and an expansive rooftop, the restaurant made waves last spring for menu items such as $5 margaritas and taco towers.
The closure announcement came shortly after neighboring establishments, Alfresco Tap and Grill and Roofer’s Union, made the decision to temporarily close. Thankfully, Roofer’s Union now anticipates reopening through the help of a partnership with Code Red.
As for Baja Tap, the restaurant has yet to make an official statement about their decision to leave D.C., though the business has removed its Adams Morgan location from the website.
You can, however, still indulge in the taco and tequila bar’s daily deals if you find yourself in Fells Point. The Baltimore location features 7,000 square feet of indoor space and a 3,000-square-foot patio.
In terms of what’s to come for the 18th Street building, we’ll have to wait and see!
