Well, we’re considering this conclusive and there’s no need for further analysis, according to a study by betway insider, which measured the best cities for pizza in the United States, Washington, D.C. is third best city for pizza in the country!
Why is Washington, D.C. such a good city for pizza?
Well, we admit this may be a bit of a misnomer because the study didn’t exactly focus on pizza quality, but took “best cities for pizza” quite literally, meaning which cities had the most pizza places and how much the average cheese pizza cost in each city!
According to the study, Washington, D.C. ranked as the third best city in the country for pizza, surprisingly the other two cities that ranked above us were Philly at #1 and Miami at #2.
The data from the study on Washington, D.C.’s pizza scene can be summarized with these two metrics:
- 352 – total number of pizza places
- $13.05 – the average cost for a cheese pizza
It’s worth noting that at only $13.05 as the average cost for a cheese pizza, Washington, D.C. had the cheapest pizza of any city in the country! The average price was calculated using the top five rated pizza spots in each city on Uber Eats, which is where the study got its data, so you can be assured that all those $0.99 pizza spots didn’t factor into the average.
Where did New York City Rank?
The study included a list of the top 20 best cities for pizza in the country and New York City didn’t even make the list! While they certainly are not lacking in terms of quality pizza spots around town, the important thing to consider was that the data also regarded average cost, so while the top pizza places from city to city may have the same rating on a 5-star scale, the price differential between a premium pizza pie in NYC compared to one in other cities was seemingly enough to keep them off the list.
