Bloomaro, one of the biggest events in D.C. dedicated to the celebration of D.C.’s Cherry Blossom peak bloom season, is being pushed back from its original March 23rd planned date to a week later, on March 30th.
The mini-festival was scheduled to run from 2 pm to 9 pm on Saturday, March 23rd but forecasts of heavy rain throughout the day have encouraged the event’s organizers to reconsider the event’s date at the last minute. Now, only a few days before the event was slated to be they have decided to push it back to March 30th, exactly one week later, at the same time.
What to expect at Bloomaroo 2024
Located at the Wharf in Georgetown, Bloomaroo is a highly anticipated event every Spring that many Washingtonians look forward to! This year, Bloomaroo will include around eight unique live bands and musical artists playing throughout the day at various stages including:
- JWX: The Jarreau Williams Experience
- Too Much Talent Band
- Jimi Smooth & HitTime
- Pink PaLiSh
- La Unica
- Keeton
- Chuck Brown Band
- Yani the Band
In addition to the live music, there will also be a ‘Kids Craft Zone‘, which means that the event has activities for all ages, the kids’ zone will have arts and crafts, drawing, haiku writing, and even balloon artists, just to name a few things.
To cap off the fun of Bloomaroo 2024, there will be a fireworks display will be shot off from a barge in the Washington Channel at around 8:30 pm to display the pink beauty of D.C.’s peaking Cherry Blossoms.
How to attend Bloomaroo 2024
There are no tickets required, Bloomaroo is a 100% free-to-attend event that anyone can visit and enjoy, that being said, naturally, things like food and drinks at Bloomaroo are not going to be free, so make sure you bring your wallet with you, and if you plan to drink be sure to bring your ID as well.
To get to the event location, the best option is to take the metro to Waterfront Station and then walk one block south to the event location, parking will be extremely limited in the area so it’s suggested to take public transportation if possible.
