The Washington Capitals have once again released a cherry blossom-inspired jersey that has quickly captivated fans from around the DMV area and even drawn admiration from NHL fans all over the U.S. and Canada!
Despite making headlines every spring since these specialty jerseys first launched in 2023, they have never been sold to the general public; rather, they have been auctioned off to raise money for charity.
How to get a Washington Capitals Cherry Blossom jersey
While the Capitals’ cherry blossom jersey will not be sold in volume to the general public, fans who have the funds for it can propose a bid to purchase a signed cherry blossom-themed jersey of the player of their choosing at auction.
The auction, which will be held on March 18th at noon and will run through 3 pm on March 28th.

All proceeds from the auction will support the Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation, whose mission is to uplift and improve communities across the DMV area.
It’s worth noting that in last year’s auction, the lowest price that a jersey was sold at was $1,800.
If that’s outside your budget but you still want a piece of the history, in addition to the player-signed jerseys, signed decorative pucks were auctioned off as well; these only had an average price of around $200.
Fortunately, the Capitals also announced cherry blossom-themed merch, including apparel, headwear, and accessories, available at the Team Store at Capital One Arena and the Team Store at MedStar Capitals Iceplex.
The jerseys will be worn by the Capitals before the game on March 18th against the Detroit Red Wings at Capital One Arena.

Story behind Washington Capitals’ 2025 Cherry Blossom jersey design
2025 marks the third consecutive year that local DMV area artist Taylor Kampa Olson of TKOPaintings created the design used in the jersey to commemorate Washington, D.C.’s iconic cherry blossom trees.
This year, which happens to be the Capitals’ 50th anniversary year as an NHL franchise, features the iconic “screaming eagle” patch with ‘petal pink’ coloring above a branch of bloomed cherry blossom flowers on a navy blue jersey.
On the back of the jersey, the numbers feature the same ‘petal pink’ coloring and bloomed cherry blossom branches in the background.
