Home to crispy chicken sandwiches, creative cocktails, and a homemade iced tea and lemonade bar, bumblebirds is bound to be quite the buzz throughout D.C. this spring. The fast-casual pop-in is opening at 303 Pennsylvania Ave SE, and they’re giving out a free fried chicken sandwich or chicken nuggets to the first 100 guests during their grand opening on Saturday, March 14.

What’s on the menu at bumblebirds
bumblebirds is brought to life by chef, television personality, and best-selling author Carla Hall, alongside Sunnyside Restaurant Group, a DC-based, family-run restaurant group.
“bumblebirds is my love letter to the South and to D.C., a place that’s been home for a long time. It’s crispy, saucy, bright, and joyful—exactly how I like my food and my hospitality. I can’t wait for people to taste the chicken, sip something fun, and feel the warm welcome the moment they walk in.” — Carla Hall
The vibrant pop-in perfectly blends nostalgia and surprise to create classic Southern comfort food with exciting modern twists, serving up mouth-watering menu items including fried chicken sandwiches with regionally inspired toppings, golden tenders and nuggets, and homemade biscuits.
Beyond bites, bumblebirds features an iced tea and lemonade bar, alongside Southern-inspired cocktails crafted by renowned mixologist Andra “AJ” Johnson.

The bumblebirds grand opening will take place on Saturday, March 14, from 11 am to 1 pm. Beyond offering a free fried chicken sandwich or nuggets to the first 100 guests, the celebration will feature a meet and greet with Carla Hall, and the chance to win a party for six at bumblebirds! The colorful dining space will formally open its doors on Monday, March 16.
