Whether or not you consider yourself a big fan of stand-up comedy, heading to a local comedy club can be one of the most fun and hilarious ways to spend an evening with your friends or a great plan for a unique date night.
Naturally, every spot will be a little different and offer a unique vibe, plus, every comedian will likely have their style, but here are four comedy clubs around Washington, D.C. that we think are worth checking out!
1. DC Improv – Dupont Circle
This iconic venue has a constant array of visiting comedic talent from all over the nation to perform!
This venue also has a refreshing mixture of ensembles of up-and-coming comedians along with solo performances from more well-known comedy industry stars that you might already know and be eager to see live.
Tickets, particularly for the shows of established comedians, often sell out, so don’t hesitate to purchase tickets ahead of time if you are interested in seeing a comedian who isn’t coming to town until next month!
Location: 1140 Connecticut Ave. NW, Washington, DC 20036
2. The Comedy Loft of DC – Dupont Circle
Located right upstairs above the Bier Baron Tavern at The Baron Hotel, The Comedy Loft of DC is a cozy venue that offers some delicious bites and refreshing drinks for you to enjoy performances from both local and national comedians.
Ticket prices naturally might vary depending on the specific performer you are interested in seeing and the exact type of ticket you are looking to buy (General Admission vs VIP), but they are usually between the $20 to $50 range for general admission with preferred seating or VIP costing a little extra.
However, it’s worth noting that aside from the price of admission, this venue also has a policy that requires each person to order at least two items from their menu – it could be a cocktail, soda, coffee, food, etc.
Location: 1523 22nd St NW, Washington, DC 20037
3. Hotbed – Adams Morgan
This local 21+ comedy spot is a great place for a few laughs and to have a few drinks!
Hotbed happens to be the home of Underground Comedy, one of the top independent comedy production companies based in DC – which hosts incredible local comedians every week as well as the occasional comedy star from out-of-town.
Tickets are around $20 to $30 for general admission tickets depending on the event, but you’ll want to get your tickets early and show up to shows on time to ensure you get your preferred seats!
Location: 2477 18th St NW
4. Room 808 – Park View
This BYOB comedy club is among the top spots for an enjoyable evening of laughs and chuckles if you’re in the capital.
Room 808 has weekly free shows on Wednesdays as part of their ‘Wednesday Night Showcase’, but you can head there five nights a week to see unique comedy acts by comedians you may have seen on Comedy Central, HBO, or even Netflix!
