The last thing Washingtonians want to hear right now is that more snow and freezing temperatures are on the way, but unfortunately, that’s exactly what’s coming this weekend!
Weather reports are now forecasting another strong Arctic Blast heading southeast from central Canada, bringing temperatures between 15 and 25 degrees below the historical average.
Is it going to snow again in D.C.?
Weather models are predicting about an inch of snow to fall around the DMV area this Friday afternoon, in other words, just enough snow to disrupt the Friday night plans you might have had.
While a single inch of snow might not sound like much, given that the District is still recovering from the snowstorm it experienced the other weekend, the road conditions will be particularly treacherous.

What are the temperatures around D.C. going to feel like this weekend?
On Friday, the forecast is light snow in the late afternoon with mild winds:
- Winds expected to hit 6 pm
- High of 34 degrees & a low of 17 degrees
- Wind-chill ‘feel’ temperature to be 31 degrees

The Arctic Blast is going to be at its peak on Saturday:
- Winds expected to be 27 mph with gusts between 45 and 55 mph
- High of 22 degrees & a low of 10 degrees
- Wind-chill ‘feel’ temperature to be 0 degrees & -2 in the shade
On Sunday, the winds won’t be as strong, but temperatures are still expected to be below freezing:
- Winds expected to hit 12 mph
- High of 27 degrees and a low of 10 degrees
- Wind-chill ‘feel’ temperature to be 22 degrees

When is it supposed to be warm again around the District?
After the past few weeks of frigid weather, our definition of ‘warm’ has definitely evolved.
Starting next Tuesday, the temperatures are expected hit the mid-40s, giving the District some relief from the frigid temps and finally a chance for some of the ‘Snow-Crete’ around town to melt.
