In case you missed it, D.C. celebrated love and the LGBTQ+ community last weekend with a heart-warming and fun-filled Pride weekend! From parades and fireworks to involved establishments and art displays, we still aren’t over it — so we compiled all of our favorite moments from D.C. Pride:
Capital Pride Parade
D.C.’s annual Capital Pride Parade hit the streets in full force for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic to a great turnout! Parade-goers danced, laughed, and walked the 1.5-mile route through the Logan and DuPont Circle neighborhoods, hitting participating bars and restaurants along the way!
Pride on the Pier Party
The Wharf’s third annual Pride on the Pier afterparty went out with a bang — and lots of lights! A stunning firework display was the perfect way to end the night!
Capital Pride Festival
Taking over iconic Pennsylvania Avenue, the Capital Pride Festival rounded out the weekend’s festivities with pumping live music, absolutely electric performances, and the chance for attendees to check out a variety of LGBTQ+ brands and businesses!
Lit Monuments and Establishments
Across D.C., a number of monuments, museums, embassies, and businesses are still alight in rainbow colors, celebrating Pride Month with colorful flare!
Art is a mainstay in D.C., and Pride is no different, with artists and local businesses showcasing their support through inspirational art!
Still To Come
D.C.’s Pride Weekend may have come to an end, but there are still events and activities celebrating Pride Month throughout June:
Pride Family Zone: The Smithsonian American Art Museum is celebrating Pride Month all of June with its virtual Pride Family Zone. Free and family-friendly, the Smithsonian offers a bevy of activities and educational resources on the history of LGBTQ+ communities and rights in the U.S.
As You Are.: D.C.’s bar As You Are. is a queer-owned cafe and bar in Southeast that acts as a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community and allies. Through Pride Month, the bar will be hosting a variety of events, including a Stonewall Democrats Candidate Forum, an As You Aren’t Mixer, Drag Show & Tea Party, and more.
