According to a ranking done by Assisted Living Magazine, the D.C. area road that was ranked one of the most walkable main streets in the nation was Alexandria’s King Street!
While it may not come as a shock, given that King Street was recently ranked as one of the most beautiful streets in the entire world!

What makes King Street in Alexandria so special?
Only about 15 minutes from central D.C., King Street is famous for its incredible historic architecture, which features some landmarks that date back to the 18th and 19th centuries.
In total, the street spans twenty blocks from the Potomac River into the heart of Old Town Alexandria, making it an incredible main street for a stroll.
How to get to King Street from D.C.
Getting to King Street in Alexandria is a fairly easy route; simply hop on the metro and head towards the King Street – Old Town Metro Station on the Blue Line or Yellow Line!
Naturally, depending on where you are in the District, it could take you as long as 30-45 minutes to reach if you are far, but if you’re in southwest D.C., it could be as little as 15 minutes.
Things to do on King Street
King Street is famous for its architectural beauty and natural views, so it’s a relatively quiet road that makes for a perfect walk about a mile in distance, but the street is lined with local businesses and a few fantastic spots to stop for a bite to eat!
