Summer is famous for barbecues, and one of epic proportions is returning to the District!
Hosted by Giant Food, the 31st Annual Giant National Capital Barbecue Battle will bring entertainment, barbecue contests, tastings, and more to Pennsylvania Avenue the weekend of June 24-25.
“Giant has hosted the National Capital Barbecue Battle since 2016 and this year will be the biggest to date with more food and fun than ever,” Giant Food President Ira Kress said in a press release.
Attendees will be able to indulge in free tastings of BBQ and grilled food samples from the Taste of Giant Sampling Pavilion, take in the sounds of D.C. at the Pepsi Lays Go-Go Stage, and meet some of D.C.’s finest athletes from the Washington Wizards, Capitals, and Mystics at the Monumental Sports Zone.
Craving more? At 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, the sounds of the ’90s will be coming to life at The Monster’s Energy 90’s Block Party with a performance from the legendary DJ Jazzy Jeff!
“It’s truly an honor to host our community as we kick-off the summer,” said Kress, “and we are excited to play an active role in helping raise money for several of our key community partners across the region like USO National Capital District, the Capital Area Food Bank and Big Brothers Big Sisters of the National Capital Area.”
General admission costs $20 per person for a one-day pass or $30 per person for a two-day pass. Children under 12 years old can attend for free.
