Chef Rock Harper is an icon in the D.C. food scene, known not only for his successful restaurants in the area but perhaps more notably as the winner of the third season of Chef Gordon Ramsey’s Hell’s Kitchen.
One of his popular businesses was the H Street bar ‘Hill Prince’, which has been in operation since 2023.
However, after spending much of 2025 thus far reviewing his own screen consumption and realizing its impact on his own life, Chef Harper began to experiment with phone-free events hosted at his bar earlier this year.
Now, after careful consideration, Chef Rock Harp has formally closed H Street Bar ‘Hill Prince’ and rebranded it into ‘Hush Harbor’, a completely phone-free cocktail bar.

What to expect at Hush Harbor
The new phone-free ‘Hush Harbor‘ bar has drawn praise online as a refreshing escape from the hyper-online lives we all seem to be living these days.
The no-phone policy may sound daunting to many, considering how connected we always are these days, but according to Chef Harper, the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive!
And before you ask, no. They don’t take your phone from you or anything like that.
When you enter the bar, you are given a special magnetic pouch for your phone to keep it on you while ensuring it is locked during your stay.
If you do need to check your phone, there are designated phone zones where you can ask an employee to unlock the pouch.
Once inside, with your phone tucked away, you’ll be able to enjoy the selection of cocktails and small plates available for order!
While the drinks menu is quite expansive, the food menu is simplified to a handful of Southern comfort classics, such as fresh buttermilk biscuits & ham, braised kale with cornbread, and Cajun beans & rice.

How to make a reservation
Booking a reservation can be easily done either over the phone or on the bar’s official page on the Tock booking system.
Online, you can manage all bookings for up to 8 people, but if you are hoping to make larger reservations, then you’ll have to contact the bar directly.
If you’re hoping to host a larger event, Hush Harbor does offer four unique spaces:
- First Floor Living Room — Main bar space – seating room for 14, and standing room for 50.
- Room 112 — Secondary indoor space – seating room for 12, and standing room for 25
- The Courtyard — an outdoor patio space filled with lush greenery – seating room for 15, standing room for 50
- The Barn — A carriage house complete with its own bar and wood-burning fireplace, seating room for 100, and standing room for 150
