If there’s one thing we always think about when it comes to summer, it’s the county fair! We couldn’t be more excited for this year’s Maryland County Fair, one of the biggest fairs in the DMV area that draws around 500,000 attendees annually. There will be carnival rides and fair food, competitions, puppy yoga, live music, and much more.
The Maryland State Fair returns in late August from the 21st to the 24th, then from August 28th to September 1st, then September 4th – 7th. These are the carnival hours:
Carnival Hours
Thursdays: 5pm-Close
Fridays: 10am-close
Saturdays: 10am-close
Sundays: 10am-close
Labor Day Monday: 10am-close

There are 2 ways that you can pay to go on rides.
Carnival Ride Credit Card
The carnival will be semi-cashless again this year and have carnival ride credit cards that you’ll need to use. Fairgoers will have to purchase a ride card or ride wristband at a kiosk in order to get on any carnival rides. You can purchase how ever many credits you want and add additional credits once you’ve run out. The card itself will require a $2 activation fee. Credit are 10 cents each and each ride ranges from 30-100 credits. So, $10 is 100 credits, so on and so forth.
Carnival Ride Wristbands
Additionally, carnival Ride Wristbands include unlimited rides during the designated dates and times, which are listed below:
