Racing fans rejoice, the hottest team in F1, Red Bull Racing, is bringing one of their championship-quality Formula One race cars, the RB7, to D.C.’s streets for an afternoon circuit around the capital city on Saturday, April 20th.
Is Washington, D.C. hosting a Formula One race?
No, the event is not an official or formal F1 race, it is what Red Bull Racing is referring to as the “Red Bull Showrun DC“, where they are demonstrating the power of their DB7 vehicle across America. What this will entail is legendary F1 driver David Coulthard teaming up with the Red Bull Racing team to suit up and race down Pennsylvania Avenue as part of a free-to-attend and fun-filled weekend dedicated to promoting both F1 and Oracle Red Bull Racing to a D.C. audience.
The event will start at 4 pm promptly, but the Fan Zone will open its doors at 1 pm.
The ‘race’ circuit will span from the Federal Trade Commission building to the National Gallery of Art’s East Building, right by Capitol Hill, more precisely the circuit will take place between 3rd St and 7th St on Pennsylvania Avenue.
How you can attend the Red Bull Showrun in D.C.
The ‘race’ event itself will be completely free to attend and require absolutely no registration, which means that you are free to line up with your friends or family to get a good view of ex-Formula One champion David Coulthard zooming down the Capital City’s streets. In addition to David Coulthard helming Red Bull Racing’s RB7, there will also be ‘performances’ by street-freestyle motorcyclist Aaron Colton, as well as rally driver Scott Speed!
It’s a full weekend of Red Bull Racing fun
Aside from the Red Bull Showrun event on Saturday, April 20th, there will also be a ‘fan festival’ on Friday, April 19th, at Union Marketing starting at 2 pm. Here, patrons will be able to participate in a Q&A with team Red Bull Racing members and even get behind the wheel at one of their official racing simulators!
