Tomorrow, February 24th, at 9 pm, the President of the United States will deliver the State of the Union before a Joint Session of Congress at the Capitol.

To ensure the safety of all those in attendance, as well as everyone in the Capitol Hill area, the United States Capitol Police have announced their plans to temporarily close several nearby streets throughout the day until the conclusion of the event.

Road closures around Capitol Hill

There are going to be several temporary road closures throughout the day that are likely to have a significant impact on the flow of traffic throughout the District.

Starting just after midnight (12:01 am) on February 24th, the following roads will be closed to the public until the conclusion of the State of the Union Address:

• First Street between Constitution Avenue, NW, & Independence Avenue, SW
• Pennsylvania Avenue between 3rd Street, NW, & First Street, NW
• Maryland Avenue between 3rd Street, SW, & First Street, SW

Starting at 1 pm on February 24th, the following roads will be closed to the public until the conclusion of the State of the Union Address:

• First Street between Constitution Avenue, NE, & Independence Avenue, SE
• East Capitol Street between First Street & 2^nd Street

Starting at 5:30 pm on February 24th, the following roads will be closed to the public until the conclusion of the State of the Union Address:

• Constitution Avenue between Louisiana Avenue, NW, & 2^nd Street, NE
• Independence Avenue between Washington Avenue, SW, & 2^nd Street, SE
• First Street between Constitution Avenue, NW, & Louisiana Avenue, NW
• First Street between the Rayburn House Office Building garage entrance & Independence Avenue, SW
• D Street between First Street, NE, & 2^nd Street, NE
• Maryland Avenue between First Street, NE, & Constitution Avenue, NE
• New Jersey Avenue between C Street, NW, & Constitution Avenue, NW

Starting at 7:00 pm on February 24th, the following roads will be closed to the public until the conclusion of the State of the Union Address:

• First Street between Columbus Circle, NE, & D Street, NE
• D Street between Louisiana Avenue, NW, & First Street, NE
• Delaware Avenue between Columbus Circle, NE, & D Street, NE
• 2^nd Street between Constitution Avenue, NE, & Independence Avenue, SE
• Constitution Avenue between 3^rd Street, NW, & Louisiana Avenue, NW
• First Street between C Street, NW, & Louisiana Avenue, NW
