How Did AirHelp Decide Their List?
AirHelp ranked 250 airports across 68 countries and analyzed flights that spanned from 1 June 2024 to 31 May 2025. They whittled down to 250 airports from the 4,000 in their databased, using foot traffic to find the busiest ones. The airports were ranked on three different factors:
- On-time performance
- Customer opinion
- Food and shops

Overall, globally, these U.S. airports still landed somewhere in the middle, meaning they weren’t the worst in the entire world. The overall worst airport across the globe was Tunis Carthage Airport in Tunis, Tunisia, with an Airhelp score of 5.73. The best was Cape Town Airport with a score of 8.57.
