The Washington, D.C. housing market has had an interesting development with the latest iconic real estate listing online making the news for its… unique… design and layout.
The house in question is a new “skinny home” that uses a relatively new architectural style meant to minimize wasted space and maximize functionality, which in turn means that the house is only 6 feet wide and is only 600 square feet.
The 6-foot-wide 600 sq-foot house sits on a 700 sq-foot lot with just 1 bedroom, 1.5 bath, a modern kitchen space, a living room, and a spacious 5-foot-wide outdoor ‘patio area.
The ‘property’ is encased in paneled wooden fencing for privacy so that you can stretch out and take advantage of the space without fear of nosey neighbors.
However, it might be worth mentioning that even though the building is freestanding, some taller neighboring apartment buildings might have you second-guess walking around your apartment “au-naturel”.
If you want to see the apartment in person the address is publicly listed on its realtor.com listing, which is 1738 Glick Ct NW, Washington, DC 20001, in the lovely neighborhood of Shaw, just a few minutes walk from the Shaw-Howard Univ Station on the Green Line.
The “single-family” home has been listed at the price of a mere $499,000, which totals out to nearly $1,000 per square foot!
While we all love a good deal, we’re not exactly sold on the “skinny-home” trend being the solution to Washington, D.C.’s housing market issues.
