This weekend, on Saturday, August 23rd, Summer Farm will be opening its annual corn maze for the fall season, but this year with a unique design that pays homage to Capitals legend Alex Ovechkin.
Where is Summers Farm?
Summers Farm is located in Middletown, MD, which is not far from Frederick, just about an hour outside the District by car.
Alongside the corn maze, this weekend, the family-friendly destination is also launching its official summer Flower Festival, which will run from Saturday, August 23rd to Sunday, September 7th.

What we know about the Ovechkin corn maze
The Summers Farm corn maze will feature a design of Ovechkin’s signature slap shot, along with the tagline shared after he broke the NHL’s career goal-scoring record last season, ‘Gr8ness’ and ‘895’, the goal that broke the record.
While an image of the maze has been shared online, it’s been edited to hide the correct path for the maze, ensuring a fun and engaging experience for all who visit.
We also know, according to the Summers Farm site, that the maze itself will feature Capitals-themed trivia that will help visitors find their way through the labyrinth.

Ovechkin-themed, but for a good cause
It’s no surprise that Alex Ovechkin has been one of the biggest sports icons in the DMV area for years now, and now that he officially has the NHL record for most career goals, his legacy in the region seems set in stone as we head into his final season in the NHL.
What you may have missed, however, is that throughout his campaign to break the NHL goal-scoring record last year, Ovechkin was also raising funds to support The V Foundation with his Gr8 Chase campaign for cancer research.
Now, in honor of celebrating Ovechkin’s achievements and monumental legacy, the massive corn maze at Summers Farm will donate a portion of all proceeds to the same cancer research foundation.
