Now that the Super Bowl has passed and Valentine’s Day is on the horizon, a study by Wetten.com took the time to ask one of the most pressing questions on some Commanders’ fans’ minds…
“Would you rather have your team win the Super Bowl or find your true love?”
What percentage of Commanders fans said they’d choose a Super Bowl win over true love?
The study found that out of all the single Commanders fans they spoke to, 54% said they would rather win the Super Bowl than ever find true love!
Believe it or not, this was slightly above the average for all survey participants across the U.S. – the study found that 48% of participants would rather find true love than have their team win a Super Bowl.
How did other NFL fanbases care more about winning than finding love?
According to the study, the NFL fanbase that said they would rather take a Super Bowl win over true love most frequently was the Detroit Lions.
Among the single Lions fans who participated in the survey, a staggering 74% of Detroit fans claimed they would forgo true love to see the Lions hang a Super Bowl banner.
The team that chose love most frequently over a Super Bowl victory was the New England Patriots – with only 22% of the New England fans participating in the survey saying they would rather win a Super Bowl.
How did this study get its data?
According to the methodology for the study, the survey consisted of minimal questions for around 2,000 individuals across the United States who were single at the time of participating.
The study had participants self-identify their favorite team, their current state of residence, their gender, and of course state whether or not they would rather their team win the Super Bowl than they find true love.
Amongst the 2,000 participants in the study here were some of the statistics that jumped off the page at us:
- Regarding gender participants were 55% male, 44% female, 0.5% non-binary, and 0.5% responded as ‘unspecified’.
- Funny enough, the study revealed that women are on average more likely to give up finding true love for a Super Bowl title (51%) than men (46%).
- Regarding age, the study’s participants had an average age of 38.4 years old.
