The sounds of lutes, laughter, and clashing swords won’t be echoing across Spotsylvania for much longer.
After five weekends of knights, queens, costumed performers, and old-world revelry, the Virginia Renaissance Faire is preparing to wrap up its 2026 season. For anyone who has been meaning to visit but hasn’t yet made the trip, this weekend marks the final opportunity to experience one of Virginia’s most beloved Renaissance traditions before it disappears for another year.
Now in its 24th season, the annual festival transforms a corner of Spotsylvania County into the fictional English village of Staffordshire, complete with live entertainment, artisan vendors, themed food, and interactive activities for all ages.
And once the final weekend ends, visitors will have to wait until next spring for the Faire’s return.
One final weekend remains for the Virginia Renaissance Faire
The Virginia Renaissance Faire takes place at Lake Anna Winery in Spotsylvania County, Virginia, with the 2026 season running on weekends from May 9 through June 7.
The final weekend is scheduled for Saturday, June 6, and Sunday, June 7, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
Tickets are sold online only, and organizers note that some dates can sell out in advance.
This year’s closing weekend theme is “Romance & Roses,” making it the final chapter of the Faire’s 2026 season.

What visitors can expect inside Staffordshire Village
The Virginia Renaissance Faire offers far more than people dressed in period costumes.
Visitors can watch jousting demonstrations, archery exhibitions, blacksmithing displays, magic shows, circus acts, musical performances, and royal court entertainment throughout the day.
Wandering minstrels, Celtic musicians, historical performers, and interactive characters help create an immersive atmosphere across the festival grounds.
Food is also a major draw.
Festival-goers can feast on classic Renaissance Faire favorites such as:
- Turkey legs
- Italian sausages
- Funnel cakes
- Kettle corn
- Gyros
- Jerky
- Fries and other fair-style treats
Visitors can also browse a bustling marketplace filled with artisans and specialty vendors selling handcrafted goods, clothing, jewelry, artwork, and medieval-inspired merchandise.
Families with children will find dedicated activities designed for younger guests, while adults can enjoy themed drinks and entertainment throughout the day.
The festival is known for its highly interactive atmosphere, with guests encouraged to dress in costume and participate in the experience.
