As tradition goes, every year, the White House unveils a new stunning Christmas display. This year, Jill Biden’s White House Christmas Theme is A Season of Peace and Light. The theme features 83 Christmas Trees adorned with up to 28,000 ornaments with 185,000 Christmas Lights strewn about.
Over 100 volunteers from around the country worked together to make this Holiday theme come true. Certain rooms even have fun themes. For example, the State Dining Room’s Tree is filled with hand-crafted ornaments made from children across the country and the China Room is filled with artisanal bread to highlight the baking people often do for Christmas.
This year’s tree, a Fraser Fir, is from a farm over in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, and was placed in the Blue Room of the White House. Gorgeous decorations like whimsical Nutcrackers and golden star-shaped ornaments dot the different rooms. There’s a desk filled with cakes and a Gingerbread House. The East Wing has been transformed into a magical column of hanging, twinkling lights and colorfully-wrapped candy.
The public is allowed to visit the White House this holiday season to get an up-close look at all of the festive details. Plus, if you can’t make it, there’s an interactive virtual tour you can watch.
Don’t forget, the National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony takes place on Thursday, December 5th on the Ellipse and while tickets may be sold out for this popular event, you can still visit the grounds after to view the National Christmas Tree and the surrounding trees.
