Wilford The 28-Pound Cat

Wilford, a 28-pound fluff ball of love, is looking for a home in DC!

Washingtonians meet Wilford! This chubby boy was taken in last December by the Lost Dog & Cat Rescue and is now looking for a new owner who will help him along in his weight loss journey. When this big ball of fluff was surrendered to the Virginia shelter he wasn’t in the best of conditions. Wilford arrived very dirty, severely obese and in desperate need of some TLC. Luckily he was taken in by his foster parents Jen and Ian at Pokey Pot Pie and he’s now on his way to recovering his shape.

In the beginning, Wilford’s adaptation wasn’t exactly a walk in the park.”First, he lost his home and his family and landed in our foster room. He was very reluctant to eat,” wrote his foster parents on Instagram. The feline struggled to adapt to his new living situation and was constantly in and out of the vet. “He went to the vet for bloodwork and a general check up. He continued to struggle, so he went back to the vet for appetite stimulants, anti-nausea medications, and x-rays.”

But things soon started to look up for this chunky hunk who has finally let his guard down. Now we know Wilford has a personality that’s as big as his belly. “He is one of the sweetest cats we’ve ever had to privilege to foster,” say his foster parents. “He LOVES people.” Now that he’s made himself to his new living situation, Wilford seems to be completely in his comfort zone and is always up for a good belly rub. And let’s face it, who wouldn’t want to give him one after looking at that adorably fat face? That face deserves all the belly rubs in the world.

In addition to having to lose half his body weight, Wilford also struggles with asthma and a mild upper respiratory infection, so his foster parents are hoping he will find forever parents who will help him through his health issues.

As Wilford continues to adapt to his life with other cats at Pokey Pot Pie, we’ll be here praying this chonky boy will soon find a forever family that’ll give him all the tender love and care he deserves.
