The D.C. Auto Show, commonly called the “Public Policy Show”, is one of the more important events in the automobile industry in the United States, and it will be kicking off this Friday, January 19th. The event not only allows the automotive industry to display all of its latest innovations to the public, but it also gives industry leaders, informed media contacts, and government policymakers to come together to discuss the current conditions of the country’s automotive sector and what future initiatives are currently underway or being considered.
Now, aside from being an important event to the automotive industry, the event is one of the most fun and exciting annual events that D.C. gets to experience every January! The D.C. Auto Show isn’t just for people who are interested in cars, there are so many fun activities going on that it’s a perfect event to check out with friends or family! So, with that in mind, let’s break down what you can expect to see in this year’s version of the D.C. Auto Show!
Have some family fun at the kids’ entertainment area
If you’d like to bring the family along the auto show has things for all ages to enjoy, little ones can enjoy riding around in the children’s zone, where there are inflated bounce houses, games, and more. In addition to the children’s zone, which is perfect for little ones, the Auto Show will also have a WowWheelz experience which will be great fun for children of all ages who want to experience driving around mini cars and go-karts in a secured area.
Find your next furry friend at Subaru Loves Pets
For this year’s Auto Show, Subaru has teamed up with local animal shelters to maximize the visibility and spread awareness about these local shelters and the dogs that they are trying to help find a forever home. The adoption event is part of the Subaru Loves Pets initiative, and you will be able to visit them throughout the length of the Auto Show.
Acknowledge the beauty of both classic and exotic cars
While this event is certainly circled on the calendars of those who consider themselves car enthusiasts, you don’t consider yourself an enthusiast to explore the displays of classic and exotic cars that will be on display and take an interest in the art design or history that comes with each car. Whether it’s the considerable cultural impact that something like the Mustang has had on the world or the incredible lengths of engineering that have gone into some of the most powerful vehicles on the planet, there is actually a lot to consider. Who knows, maybe you go and find it a lot more interesting than you expected!
Take part in the Art-of-Motion experience
Art-of-Motion is a design experience brought by a partnership between the Auto Show and Automotive Rhythms. The experience includes experiential graphics, car painting in real-time, custom motorcycles, local artist exhibits, and so much more!
Get behind the wheel on the Hyundai Test Track
Back again to the rejoice of Washingtonians who got to experience it last year, the Hyundai Test Track is a fun way to experience the cutting-edge technology and high performance of one of the automobile industry’s newest models. The engaging and interactive area lets guests get in the driver’s seat for a short while, but if you want to participate make sure you arrive early, as you can imagine, it’s quite popular.
See the latest in green automotive transportation technology
The D.C. Auto Show gets to present the latest and greatest in automotive transportation, particularly when it comes to sustainability! On display this year will be the latest electric vehicle (EV) models from all of the top car manufacturers, not only sharing their latest innovations but letting you hop in cars and letting you see firsthand how they’ve been improved. Also, as a result of the EV Ride n’ Drive deal, which is included in general admission tickets, you’ll be able to drive the new model of your choice on the streets of D.C.!
Tickets to attend the Auto Show tickets start at $20 per adult for weekend tickets and $15 per adult for week day tickets, while child tickets (ages 6-12) are $7 per child throughout the week. The D.C. Auto Show truly has something for everyone, so definitely take the time to check it out at the D.C. Convention Center between January 19th and January 28th!
