Welp… If melting presidents and eight-year-old heat records being broken weren’t enough to tell you how ridiculous this heat wave in the D.C. area has been, then we have news for you.
As a result of the D.C. area’s unique combination of heat and humidity, Washinton, D.C. has officially ‘felt like’ the hottest place in the entire country for two days in a row!
The humidity and heat in the D.C. area are so bad that it actually feels hotter in the capital city than it does anywhere else in the United States, and that includes Phoenix, Arizona – a city that is quite literally built in the middle of a desert!
To put it in numbers, yesterday, as you can see in the embedded tweet above, it ‘felt’ 109 degrees outside, but that’s an improvement from this past Tuesday when the ‘feels like’ temperature map measured the Washington, D.C. area at 111 degrees!
How to cope with the heat around D.C. this Summer
If you are lucky enough to have and be able to consistently use your A/C this Summer then you may not have as hard of a time as the rest of us, but if you’re among the Washingtonians who find it simply impossible to deal with the heat at home, here’s a few ways you can find some relief:
- Check out one of these great places to work remotely, rather than working from home.
- Check out these free ways to cool off around town during any ‘heat emergency’.
- Head to one of these outdoor swimming spots in the nature surrounding the D.C. area.
- Check out the biggest water ride in the region at this water park just 30 minutes from the capital city.
