Following some mild flurries earlier this month, Washington, D.C. has officially gotten its first substantial snowstorm of the year! For those lucky enough to have the day off, what better way to celebrate than with an epic snowball fight?
On the morning of January 6, hundreds of Washingtonians joined forces at Meridian Hill (Malcolm X) Park to engage in The Great Meridian Chill Battle of 2025. The highly-anticipated snowball fight was the first of the season, though the events have officially been going on for fifteen years thanks to the Washington DC Snowball Fight Association.
The snowball fight locations vary, having previously taken place on the National Mall and at the Dupont Circle Fountain. While some argued that the recent event at Meridian Hill Park lacked Metro accessibility, this didn’t stop crowds from showing up by the dozens. Even G-Wiz from the Washington Wizards partook in the fun!
In the spirit of giving back, the DCSFA announced that Special Olympics DC is the official charity of the 2025 Snowball Fight. Snowball fighters can support the organization at the February 22 Polar Plunge at Yards Park, or donate directly online.
